About the College
Bal Bhagwan Shikshan Prasarak Mandal, Ahmedpur’s Swami Vivekanand Mahavidyalay, Shirur Tajband, is a rural based institution dedicated to academic excellence and holistic development of students. The college is affiliated to Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, Nanded. In 1991, the college was established with the vision of providing quality higher education to rural students. The college has been striving to empower young minds through knowledge, discipline, and values, since its inception.
The college offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Arts, in order to meet the challenges of the competitive world. With well-qualified and dedicated faculty, good infrastructure, and a rich library, the institution ensures an environment conducive to learning and research.
Beyond academics, the college places equal emphasis on co-curricular and extracurricular activities, nurturing ethics, leadership, and character among students. Various associations, study circles, and sports facilities encourage students to showcase their talents and contribute positively to society.

Brief History
Swami Vivekanand Mahavidyalaya, Shirur Tajband, was established in 1991 with the noble vision of extending the light of higher education to the rural youth of Shirur Tajband, Taluka Ahmedpur, District Latur, Maharashtra. The institution was founded under the dynamic leadership of Hon. Shri. Balasaheb Jadhav, Former State Minister and President of the Educational society, and Hon.Shri. Babasahebji Patil, Secretary and former Member of Legislative Assembly, whose dedication and foresight laid the foundation for academic excellence in this rural region.
The college began as a single-faculty in Arts, affiliated to Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, Nanded, with a mission to provide accessible, value-based, and quality education to socially and economically disadvantaged students. Over time, it has expanded its academic horizon to include Undergraduate courses in Arts/ Humanities and Postgraduate programmes in Sociology and Hindi, along with External Education facilities for postgraduate learners.
Guided by the inspiring motto “Success and Knowledge through Dedication” (यत्नातो देव जाणाव), the college emphasizes academic excellence, moral development, and social responsibility.
Milestones at a Glance
- 1991 – Establishment of the college with the Faculty of Arts.
